I have reported 2 ploughing matches
since the start of Greenheyes.com. Chris our next door neighbour did so I sent him with our camera. So this is his day out. Firstly the horses and then this little blue Fordson tractor from the 1950’s. As you see no heated air-conditioned cab with its computer and CD stereo system just the fresh air and whistle or sing for your entertainment if you wish. Tractors from the 1950’s ,60’s and 70’s are now collectable and as you see are fully restored by their owners to near new condition. This Massey Ferguson tractor is very much fromthe modern age with its 5 furrow plough.
Besides the ploughing there is also the hedgecutting competition and here is a competitor in the mechanical section. The aim is to produce the most level
and evenly cut hedge and this is a very competitive section as most
of the entrants are contractors. This final picture shows the field with the trade-stands and marquees and as you see by the sky the weather was super for the time of year.
