The Middle Banks cover an area of approx 1ha. and form a part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) at Greenheyes.

It is mainly used as rough grazing for the young stock on the farm.

As the use of herbicides is forbidden under the CSS regulations, the clearing of weeds (ie Ragwort) has to be undertaken by hand
