THE NATURE REPORT
November 2001
Home page

The trees are now bare and the squirrels have disappeared from the orchard (probably sleeping in the nest-box).

At night now as it is dark by 4.30 you can hear the Vixens howling. It is a strange sound, scary I suppose if you have not heard it before.

One night I was "calling for foxes" this can be done by rubbing a piece of polystyrene on a piece of glass the sound produced is similar to a distressed rabbit and the fox can be attracted to within 20metres.

This particular night no foxes but an inquisitive barn owl came to within 5 metres of me unfortunately I missed with the camera. (Couldn't hit a barn let alone an owl :-)

However click on this link too see photos by clicking here http://www.andyharmer.com

This picture shows the bare trees and the woodland behind the cottage near the cottage paddock.

All is not bare however as this Holly tree (right) by Sarah's bedroom window shows.
