As the Cows are milked, it is pumped from the milking parlour into large storage tanks known as Bulk Tanks.

At Greenheyes we currently possess 2 tanks.

The light green tank that you can see has a capacity of 1,150 liters while the blue tank has a capacity of 700 liters.

As well as storing the milk the tanks also refrigerate the milk, within 10 minute of finishing the milking the temperature of the milk is at about 3^oC (it often falls to a cool 1.5^oC by the time the milk tanker arrives.)
